Message from Leadership

Corporate partnership is a cornerstone of CityU and the School of Technology & Computing. Two years ago Kathy Cox, Director of External Affairs, and Professor Sam Chung collaborated with WTIA’s Amazon Apprenti Program (AAP) to create and offer a Full Stack Developer apprenticeship for transitioning military. Next week the second AAP cohort will be featured. This week STC’s Byte features the Amazon/CityU partnership article feature in the Seattle Times.

Amazon teams with City University of Seattle to train military employees for new role

Recognition

Kudos to our TAs Kim Nguyen and Spencer Liu for being accepted to conferences to speak on their topics of interest. Kim was accepted to speak at VetSecCon and ShellCon to present her talk “Voice-Based Software Exploitation”. Spencer was accepted to speak at VeSecCon on his talk “Android Vulnerability Exploitation”.

Linux is born

The creator of Linux, Linus Torvalds releases a statement on an internet message board that he is working on a new operating system. The massate is titled: “What would you like to see most in minix?” This OS became Linux.

August 24, 1995
Windows 95 introduced

Microsoft launches its promised “largest project in technology history”, Windows 95. In the first four days of its release, over one million copies were sold. Happy 25th Anniversary Microsoft!
