The Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS) at CityU Seattle advances knowledge and expertise in computer science and technology. This program offers strong theoretical foundations, practical experience, and the knowledge needed to advance careers. Learn how to identify and analyze user and client needs, and understand the software engineering lifecycle, to create software-based solutions.

Program Overview

The MSCS broaden and deepen professional expertise to gain wholistic knowledge in the design, development, and management processes of software applications and systems. The program provides graduates the knowledge, tools, and techniques current to industry. Many of our faculty are industry experts and bring the latest innovations ensuring graduates are well-prepared.

Under the guidance of an advisor, the capstone manifests as a research project, thesis with a public presentation of their work.

Learning Outcomes

The Master of Science in Computer Science will prepare students to: 

Integrate a foundational knowledge of all areas of advanced computer science 
Apply fundamental principles and practices of advanced computer science
Apply critical and ethical thinking to solve problems in advanced computer science 
Evaluate data to inform decisions and solve problems in advanced computer science
Create the ability to develop and express ideas while applying a variety of delivery models, genres, and styles 
Collaborate effectively on diverse teams to accomplish a common goal

Admission Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a STEM degree is required to apply. 

The School of Technology and Computing encourages students with non-technical bachelor’s degrees to pursue the MSCS. CityU’s Bridge-MSCS program is specifically designed to help students that want to transition into technology careers. Preparatory courses (20 Credits) for the degree include:
